How did we get our start? State Cashmere was founded in 2017 in New York City, but we have been in the cashmere industry for generations. I come from a family of shepherds. I long to share with you the beautiful life of growing up in Inner Mongolia, grandparents who were shepherds, and our raising of our cashmere goats.

FAQ 1. Does cashmere pill? Pilling occurs as a result of the fabric rubbing against itself or another surface. While, unfortunately, pilling can occur on a cashmere blanket, we have used special Dense Knitting techniques and 2-Ply yarn of Long Staple finest Cashmere fibers craftily blended with Highest-Quality Merino Wool to deliver Best Anti-Pilling Performance.

1. Can pilling it be prevented? It's very difficult to prevent cashmere pilling entirely but you can certainly reduce the amount of pilling by caring for your item properly.

2. How do I care for Cashmere? The care label may read "dry clean only," but hand washing a cashmere throw will actually make it softer over time. Be sure to wash it in cold water and use baby or Wool and Cashmere shampoo, which nourish the fibers, helping to keep them strong and prevent pilling. Press out the excess water, but do not wring the throw. Instead, lay it flat on a towel and reshape it as it dries. Fold to store. Never hang a cashmere item as the pull of gravity will distort the overall shape.

3. Is it machine-washable? Yes, it is. Gentle cycle machine-washing will be better for it than just throwing it in a normal wash cycle. Being careful when you wash it will extend your favorite throw's life and minimize the pilling. We suggest putting it in the laundry bag and using cold water.

4. How to I remove pilling from my cashmere? Pills can be easily removed using a cashmere comb or garment bristle brush — never use a razor or scissors as you'll damage the fibers and make it worse. After washing, simply lie the garment flat and use the comb, brushing in one direction to gently remove pills. Your garment will look as brand new as the day your bought it after this process.
